Captain Grayson was the keeper of the Westfall Lighthouse until Old Murk-Eye's murlocs raided it and drowned his family. He stayed on as a ghostly keeper, watching over the sailors the light still protects.

The Stonemasons chose Edwin VanCleef as their guildmaster, and he was one of the architects who rebuilt Stormwind City. When the House of Nobles refused fair pay and disbanded the guild, he led his workers out of the city, drew on his training in stealth and made them into the Defias Brotherhood.

Old Murk-Eye led the murloc raid that killed the lighthouse keeper's family. Captain Grayson, himself drowned and bound to the shore, asks adventurers to end the beast that made him what he is.
