Easy-to-miss quests in Durotar, WoW: Forever
In Durotar, your class decides more than in any other starting zone: 34 of its 73 quests are class quests, so only 37 count for every Horde character, and 2 more are repeatable quests that never count. The Durotar guide page lists all of them; below are the ones that are easy to miss, whatever your class.
Quests that start without a quest giver
The Admiral's Orders (Horde, level 1) starts from the Aged Envelope, an item inside Benedict's Chest in Tiragarde Keep. It opens a chain of 2 steps. Open the chest while you are in the keep anyway; coming back only for the envelope costs a trip.
Burning Shadows (level 4) starts from the Eye of Burning Shadow, an item Gazz'uz drops in Skull Rock. It stands alone, so nothing else in the zone points you to it.
Chain starts that are easy to walk past
Vile Familiars (level 2) from Zureetha Fargaze, outside the Den in the Valley of Trials, opens a chain of 3 steps. She offers nothing outside that chain. Warlocks get a separate pair of quests with the same name from Ruzan beside the Den, so do not take one for the other:
Vile Familiars (Warlock) is a class quest.
Chains at a glance
A chain marked with a class counts only for that class, and 3 of these 6 end outside Durotar.
| Chain start | Steps | Needs | Ends in |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | level 1 | Durotar | |
| 3 | level 1 to 2 | Durotar | |
| 3 | level 4 | Durotar | |
| 5 | level 10 | Orgrimmar | |
| 5 | level 4 | Orgrimmar | |
| 4 | level 10 | The Barrens |
Class quests
By class, the 34 split into Shaman 10, Hunter 7, Priest 4, Rogue 4, Warlock 4, Warrior 3 and Mage 2.
12 of them are also bound to one race in the data. The level 1 class notes from Gornek inside the Den are split by race: the parchments are marked for orcs, the tablets for trolls. For example,
Simple Parchment (Warrior, Orc) and
Simple Tablet (Warrior, Troll). Plan for the version that matches your race.
Class chains worth planning:
- Shamans:
Call of Earth (Shaman, level 4) from Canaga Earthcaller opens a chain of 3 steps whose last step starts from a Minor Manifestation of Earth at Spirit Rock.
Call of Fire (Shaman, level 10) from Swart in Razor Hill opens a chain of 4 steps; its last step,
Call of Fire (Shaman), starts from the Brazier of the Dormant Flame atop the Shrine of Eternal Flame. - Hunters:
The Hunter's Path (Hunter, level 10) from Jen'shan outside the Den opens a chain of 5 steps that continues with Thotar in Razor Hill. - Rogues:
Therzok (Rogue, level 10) and
To Orgrimmar! (Rogue, level 16), both from Kaplak in Razor Hill.
The 2 repeatable quests in Durotar are shaman quests:
Earth Sapta (Shaman) and
Fire Sapta (Shaman). They never count, so you can skip them for completion.
Come back later
The Spider God (level 40, dungeon quest) and
Summoning Shadra (level 40, elite quest) form a chain of 2 steps for level 40. The first is turned in to Master Gadrin in Sen'jin Village, the second to Apothecary Lydon in Tarren Mill in Hillsbrad Foothills. Both are part of the 37 quests every Horde character counts in Durotar, so the zone is only finished once you return for them.
Before you leave
13 Durotar quests are turned in outside the zone. They still count for Durotar, so pick them up before you head out and finish them on the way:
- Orgrimmar:
The Admiral's Orders (level 1),
Neeru Fireblade (level 4) and
Burning Shadows (level 4), plus the class quests
Training the Beast (Hunter),
Therzok (Rogue),
To Orgrimmar! (Rogue),
Gan'rul's Summons (Warlock) and
Hex of Weakness (Priest). - The Barrens:
Conscript of the Horde (level 10), plus
Veteran Uzzek (Warrior),
Call of Water (Shaman, level 20) and the first and last steps of the shamans' fire chain,
Call of Fire (Shaman) and
Call of Fire (Shaman).
